Understanding Our Differences is a model, interactive disability awareness curriculum that teaches children to “see the person and not the disability.” On Friday, December 14th, 4th graders will be taking part in their first UOD unit this year, learning about Learning Disabilities. Parents Volunteers help facilitate this program. Contact Cassandra Brayley with questions or to volunteer.
By comparing the human brain to a computer, the Learning Disabilities unit teaches students how the brain takes in, sorts, stores, and shares information and how learning can be impacted when someone has a learning disability affecting one or more of these areas.
For more information, visit the Understanding our Differences website. If you are interested in helping with other units contact the Cabot UOD coordinators; 3rd Grade – Deb Lacamera, 4th Grade – Cassandra Brayley, 5th grade – Andrea Zaff.
