The PTO’s Creative Arts & Sciences Committee brings an exciting social studies experience to 5th graders who will learn about the whaling industry in New England.

“Life at Sea” describes this sea-faring industry that was a key part of New England commerce in the 18th century western world. During the program students will experience the life of a whaler-man on his three- to five-year journey hunting whales. With his harpoon, concertina, his larger-than-life singing voice, and Pierre, his limber-jack, David transports students, who become his crew, back to an 18th century Nantucket whaling voyage.
