The Creative Arts and Sciences Committee brings an exciting, hands-on science program to Cabot 1st graders.

Eric introduces himself as a bug scientist (entomologist) and uses posters and clear drawings to teach students how to identify the various groups of small animals found hiding in foliage or living under logs and rocks in Newton. Next, the kids are divided into groups and allowed to scoop for bugs in large bowls of clean compost. Then some of the smallest live creatures the students have found are carefully placed into special slides for a microscope and are examined with a microscope that projects the image on a whiteboard.
