First graders will welcome Ellen Goethel and her Explore the Ocean World program on February 6th.  Ellen is a marine biologist. In a lovely, low-key approach, she will show the students live animals from the sea. These animals differ depending on what the commercial fishermen net the night before. Students are given an opportunity for hands on exploration with animal remains such as shark jaws and teeth, whale vertebrae, shells and sea stars as well as live animals. Ellen emphasizes that these animals are borrowed from the sea and that in the evening she will return them to their habitat.
