On April 1st, Cabot 4th graders will experience a new Creative Arts & Sciences program, Living Voices. Students will share the journey of The New American, from the turmoil of the old country, to the promise of America. The immigrant journey includes the steamship passage of 1910, the path through Ellis Island and onto the sweatshops of the lower east side of Manhattan. Students will learn what American liberty and opportunity means to people around the world. The presentation begins with a 10 minute introduction to immigration, followed by an in character portrayal of a young Irish immigrant girl. This portion of the program includes a theatrical performance along with video and historical images from the time period.
