Newton Public Schools is planning for the next school year.  Here are some resources to help all parents better understand the proposed Fiscal Year 2018 NPS Budget and the potential cuts due to a budget shortfall…

You can read Superintendent David Fleishman’s message to the Newton community about the budget here.  This letter gives some important background as to why there is a budget gap this year and its implications.

You can view Superintendent David Fleishman’s budget presentation slides here.  This provides a visual overview of some of the programing that is being preserved, improved, and cut at each level of the school system.

You can watch the video on his entire budget presentation to the School Committee here.  This will provide more detail and explanation than reviewing just the presentation slides.
You can review the complete budget proposal (all 152 pages) here.  This provides all the detail of the entire proposed Newton Public Schools budget.

A public hearing on the proposed budget will be held on April 4, 2017 at 6pm at the Education Center, 100 Walnut Street.  Public comment is an important part of the budget process.  Please attend and speak if you feel strongly about any aspect of the budget proposal.
